We are ditching our warm comfy beds and donning our thick socks and walking boots to join Overgate Hospice on a midnight charity walk. On Saturday 8th September, Overgate Hospice’s annual 13-mile walk will take place. Inviting people of all ages to join the midnight fun, Overgate is keeping the route secret until the big night. However, it will start at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax, kicking off promptly at midnight. There are two options, a 7-mile and 13-mile route. Therefore it’s suitable for people of many abilities to take part in the fun.
Everyday running costs
Overgate turns to the local community for help in raising £6,800. That is how much they need every day to remain open. They provide compassionate and specialist palliative and end-of-life care for adults in Calderdale who have active, progressive and life-limiting conditions. Overgate aims to care for the whole person to give them the best possible quality of life. They offer additional support for the patients’ family and/or carers. Overgate Hospice care for each person’s individual needs, whether physical, emotional or social. The Hospice is only partly funded by Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group. They also rely heavily on the support of individuals and organisations.
- £5 could allow for one of Overgate’s day hospice patients to enjoy a home-cooked meal with friends.
- £10 can price a daily selection of newspapers and magazines for patients.
- £20 would provide a complementary therapy session for one of Overgate’s patients to help ease their pain.
- £50 would help Overgate volunteers to maintain the hospice’s beautiful gardens for their patients to enjoy.
